Aston Martin has announced that it would be introducing a new platform to build the next generation of its sports cars. According to the information provided to Top Gear by the companyai??i??s chief financial officer, Hanno Kirner, the company is coming out with a new architecture in order to ensure that the companyai??i??s next generation of sports cars is at the forefront of engineering excellence and in car infotainment features. The new platform that is being designed would be complementing the AMG developed V-8 power trains and also support state of the art electronics technology provided by BFF Daimler.
Aston Martin had recently inked an agreement with Mercedes Benz through which Aston Martin would be getting complete access to Daimler technology platform including the latest modular sports car platform introduced by Daimler Benz. This sports car platform would enable Aston Martin to involve in different body configurations including coupes, convertibles and a four door coupe sedan. The new platform has been referred to internally in Daimler Benz as GL would also help Aston Martin to come out with high roof SUVs.
